Lu\u00edsa Schmidt is a sociologist and Coordinating Researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She is part of the team that introduced Environmental Sociology in Portugal, encompassing research, teaching, and the articulation between academia and society.<\/p>\n

She coordinates and\/or participates in several national and international research projects on the social dimensions and impacts of environmental problems and climate change, as well as the analysis and evaluation of corresponding public policies. She is a member of CNADS (National Council for Environment and Sustainable Development) and the Working Group for Sustainable Development within the framework of EEAC \u2013 European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Council. She received the ‘Personality’ Vis\u00e3o Verde<\/em> Award, Vis\u00e3o Magazine<\/em> (2022); and the Ci\u00eancia Viva Montepio<\/em> \u2013 Media Award 2016 \/ Ci\u00eancia Viva<\/em> \u2013 National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture (Ministry of Science). Her latest book, 50 Anos de Pol\u00edticas Ambientais em Portugal: da confer\u00eancia de Estocolmo \u00e0 atualidade<\/em> (50 Years of Environmental Policies in Portugal: from the Stockholm conference to the present), was published in 2023. She is a regular columnist for the weekly newspaper Jornal Expresso<\/em>.<\/p>\n
