The commemorative session took place at the Museu da \u00c1gua (Water Museum) and included the presence and intervention of the President of EPAL, the Rector of University of Lisboa, and several deans from the associated Schools.<\/p>\n<p>During this session, a tribute was paid to <strong>Prof. Filipe Duarte Santos<\/strong> for his role as the driving force and architect of this exceptional scientific and pedagogical project, which articulates different institutions, faculty members, and disciplines through demanding transversality. The PhD Program was born from a deep understanding, enthusiasm, and mutual respect among seven professors from seven schools of the University of Lisbon and NOVA University Lisbon, and has maintained a connection with the University of East Anglia (England) since its inception.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout its 16 editions, the PhD Program has aimed to train new generations capable of tackling the challenges of a world increasingly shaped by climate change and the complexities of sustainable development across its social, economic, environmental, and governance aspects. It has fostered a stimulating experience of learning, dialogue between sciences, and the opening of science to society.<\/p>\n<p>This commemorative session was attended by all the professors and over two hundred alumni from different editions, many of whom gave testimonials about their experience in the PhD Program\u2014some in person, others via recorded videos sent from the various countries of the world, where they currently reside and work.
