João Seixas is professor and researcher in the areas of Cities, Metropolises and Urban and Territorial Policies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the NOVA University of Lisbon.
He has extensive national and international experience in teaching, research and consultancy in these fields. PhD in Human Geography at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, Master in Urban and Regional Studies at the London School of Economics. He was Pro-Rector for Socio-Territorial Innovation at the NOVA University of Lisbon, Commissioner of the Lisbon Strategic Charter, Coordinator of the political-administrative reform of the Portuguese capital, consultant for the URBACT program / European Commission. He is the author of several publications on cities and urban development, namely the following books: Lisbon in Metamorphosis (2021), Lisbon Projections – Utopias and strategies for a city in perpetual motion (2018), In Every Streets (2015), The City at the Crossroads (2013), Urban Governance in Southern Europe (2012).
