Filipa Ferreira

Filipa Ferreira is Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico of University of Lisbon (IST-UL), where she has taught since 2001 in the areas of ​​Hydraulics, Environment, and Water Resources. She holds a Civil Engineering degree (1996), a Master degree in Sanitary Engineering (2000), a PhD in Civil Engineering (2006), and Habilitation in Civil Engineering (2024). She is a researcher at CERIS – Research and Innovation in Civil Engineering for Sustainability.

Her main areas of expertise include water distribution and wastewater and stormwater drainage systems; water quality and pollution control; modeling; warning systems; urban resilience and sustainability; water and wastewater treatment; and water reuse. She is author of several book chapters, more than 40 scientific and technical articles, and numerous technical reports. She has supervised several dozen master’s and doctoral theses, notably in wastewater drainage and sanitation.

She has been member of the European Technical and Scientific Committee of EWA since 2017. She has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Sanitary Engineering Specialization of the Order of Engineers since 2022. She is a partner of Hidra, Hidráulica e Ambiente, created in 1992, and managing partner of Vflow.Ges, Advanced Management of Sanitation and Environmental Systems, created in 2007.
